Fishy Wishy

It was a sad morning in our house as Jaret found Fishy Wishy floating upside down in his bowl.  Immediately Jaret knew it wasn't good and called me to come and confirm what he already knew.  As my little boy burst into tears over loosing his first pet, I just held him and let him cry.  We knew when getting a fish that this day would come.  Fishy Wishy was part of our family for a year and a half but it doesn't make the loss for a little boy's heart hurt any less.  I really can't even think how much worse it would be if it was a pet puppy.  Kirra came downstairs and when she heard, she got this sad look on her face and just said, "That is such sad news."  Jaret wanted to say good bye and have a small funeral.  So, we gathered in the bathroom and said a little prayer and then Jaret flushed him as the tears flowed some more.  After he composed himself, he asked if we could one day buy another fish, like maybe at the very end of school.  To which I thought he meant at the end of the school year but he asked if we could maybe go get a new fish right after school today.  So, as broken as his heart was, I think he bounced back rather quickly.  However, when he got in the car after school he asked if I could cheer him up because he is still so sad about Fishy Wishy.  I love my son and I love his tender heart.

Jaret's message:

We miss you Fishy Wishy.  We love you very much.  But we are grateful for the time you were a part of our family and we will always remember you.
