Earlier today, I heard music upstairs so I went to investigate. It was Kirra listening to music on the iPad and dancing on the bed in the guest room. She loves music so much and has taken to frequently listening to our downloaded music and singing along. I find it so adorable and will often join in with her. I am thankful that she has the same love of music that I do.
As I have been at my mom's giving her a hand this week, I have enjoyed being able to help in whatever way I could. I even took down the Christmas tree this week; yes, it was still up. LOL! Mom has been having quite a bit of pain still. One evening she took a little morphine with gravol. Kirra and I went to lay in bed with her for a bit before getting up the next morning and she was doing okay. But, it was a different story when she tried to get up for the day and was sick. She felt nauseous most of that day. Hopefully this will pass quickly as she recovers from this knee surgery. After having two knee surgeries now, I think her nickname should be "Bionic Woman." Feeling thankful for this time to help her out and spend time together.
Small things in life that bring joy, blessing, and gratitude...
-a heated house (Mom's furnace wasn't working one day so when it was finally repaired we appreciated the warmth.)
-time with loved ones
-flowers to brighten the cold, winter days
-new beginning to each day (Especially after Kirra had a really bad day full of temper tantrums one day possibly due to not feeling well and being four with a temperament all her own.)
-compassion and helpful behaviour/attitude of my children
-baking Rice Krispie Squares with Kirra who loves discovering there are two extra marshmallows than needed for our recipe that are meant just for her (Kirra's new apron is courtesy of Grandma Nettie.)
-Jaret's curious nature (Even when it drives me crazy at times with all his questions, especially during a movie we are trying to watch.)
-watching my children learn while doing homework
-a long, sweaty run on the treadmill (I would rather be running outside with the sun on my face but the treadmill will have to do. Hoping to train for a half marathon in the spring but the next month or so of running will be telling on this front.)
-comfy lulus and days without make-up
-thinking about the future and making plans
-long overdue visits (A visit with Gil and Joan Halgrimson, so nice to catch up.)
-God's beautiful expanse of sky (I woke to a beautiful sunrise this morning. The pictures that follow are taken on drives to Regina over the last couple of weeks.)
I came across, "ALWAYS IN PURSUIT 7 ways to be more content" and loved the message so wanted to share it. I love the message and how each way to being more content has a Bible verse that accompanies it. I hope you enjoy it and find it as enlightening as I did. And may each of you find contentment and not be always in pursuit of it in life.
