On December 21st, my Uncle Walter, Aunt Leota and Crystal came over for coffee/tea. It was nice to get in a visit with them before Christmas. I made some of my banana bread as I know Crystal had been craving it ever since she popped in one day in November when I was making some. It was a great way to begin the holidays. I also need to thank Auntie Leota for the wonderful gifts. It was so unnecessary and unexpected. However, that being said, you need to know that the kids loved the gifts and Kirra has wanted to wear her shiny, blue boots constantly in the house since getting them.
On December 22nd, we drove to Humboldt to spend with Terry's family. Even his Grandma joined us which was nice as it had been years since we had seen her. We also hadn't met Justin and Vanessa's little girl, Kaydra, so we were excited at the opportunity Christmas provided for that. Kirra took to her right away and immediately sat on the floor and started playing with her. She and Jayden also had fun playing together. Jackie made a wonderful turkey meal that we enjoyed before the Seahawks game started in the afternoon. It is always nice to spend time with one another, especially for holidays.
On December 23rd, we traveled to Regina to spend with my family and stayed for almost a week. We took it easy while we were there. Good food and good visiting. We watched some great movies, including The Sound of Music. Mom and I even went to a Sing Along Sound of Music at the Casino one evening, courtesy of my dad. The kids also enjoyed some cute movies on NetFlix. My parents and I took the kids to Frozen in 3D one afternoon. It was a cute show. From there, Terry met us at Lisa's with the pot of turkey soup Mom made and we had supper. We also met up with our friend, George, who was visiting from BC. The kids had lots of fun swimming with him and didn't want to have to leave when it was time. It is always good to spend time with family, but also nice to be home again to sleep in our own bed.
One major surprise I got for Christmas was tickets to Celine Dion in Vegas! I couldn't even believe it! Mom and Dad will be watching the kids while Terry and I spend a few days in Vegas. We have never been to Vegas so it will be a fun getaway. And the kids are excited that they get a few days with Grandma and Grandpa.
We still have holidays before Terry is back to work and the kids are back to school. We don't have much for plans, just some R & R. Terry is doing some studying as he writes an exam for a professional development course he needs to get in before the end of the year. So I guess he will be rather busy over the next couple of days since the end of 2013 is fast approaching.
Hope you each have enjoyed your holidays and time with family and friends.
Four generation picture:
Seahawk fans in the house, despite the fact that they lost that Sunday afternoon.
The captions my dad wrote in the books for Justine and Ayden made us all cry. Very thoughtful gifts for the kids.
A special Christmas ornament that Kirra made for me at pre-school. Precious!
Yes, I started crying when I opened this gift. Terry actually acted as if he had forgotten my gift at home which was also part of his plan to throw me off.
The kids were excited to leave cookies out for Santa; the gingersnaps that Kirra and I made together. And more excited to find them eaten the next morning with a couple of special gifts and their stockings full.
Our Christmas meal was delicious. Mom cooked the turkey perfectly.
Mom and I started a puzzle, but will have to work on it for the next few Christmas' likely. It wasn't quite as easy as Kirra's puzzle.
Kirra loved the water slide. She kept asking for just one more time down the slide...that turned into just one more time and then another.
