I feel so blessed in my life. This blog is to share those blessings with our loved ones who live too far away to share in the joys we encounter on a daily basis. It is my mission to live a life that is full of gratitude and have a heart that is full of gratitude. Hope that you are taking the time to experience the joy in your life and to be grateful for your many blessings. ~ "When we lose one blessing, another is often, most unexpectedly, given in its place." ~C.S. Happy 7th Birthday Jaret
Jaret turned seven today. Unfortunately, he wasn't feeling well (bad cold with cough) so he stayed home from school. But on the bright side, he got to spend time cuddling with Grandma Nettie and Grandpa Geoff. Our original plan was to go to Montana's for a birthday supper but since Jaret wasn't feeling great, we chose to order pizza from Boston Pizza - pepperoni being Jaret's choice. Also his choice was tiramisu for dessert.
As I tucked Jaret last night at bedtime, I was asking him some questions. Here is how our conversation went.
Mom: I can't believe this is your last night of being six and then tomorrow you will be seven.
Jaret: I know, I am growing up.
Mom: Yes, you are. And you are becoming so independent. What do you think you will be able to do once you are seven that you couldn't do when you were six?
Jaret: Like what do you mean?
Mom: Well, there are things that you learned to do when you were six that you couldn't do when you were five.
Jaret: Oh yeah, I know. Like the monkey bars and pumping on the swing.
Mom: Yeah, those are things you just learned to do this year. So I wonder what being seven will bring...
Jaret: Well because I will be seven and grow taller I hope it means I get to go on the big, green roller coaster at Calaway Park.
Mom: Oh yes! You have been wanting to do that for a couple of years now so maybe this year will be the year.
Jaret: I hope so because I like roller coasters like the ones at Lego Land and Sea World. Remember those ones?
Mom: Yep, I do remember those ones but remember that Mommy doesn't like roller coasters. However, I remember going on the one roller coaster with you at Lego Land. And it was pretty fun!
Jaret: Yeah, and Dad still hasn't given you the gift card that he promised and now you have been on it two times.
(Terry had bribed me to go on saying I would get a Pottery Barn gift card. And oh, be careful what things you say in front of kids because Jaret never lets Terry forget that he hasn't paid up.)
Mom: Yes, I remember. What do you think the best thing about being seven will be?
Jaret: Hmmmm. The most special thing is that I am turning seven and God's favourite number is seven so that is the best thing ever.
Mom: Oh Jaret, I love that!
(As I then just give him lots of hugs and kisses before wishing my six year old son good night.)
No better job in the world than being a MOM!
