We had a wonderful long weekend in Kelowna! It was a long drive, especially as we were at a stand still around the Lake Louise area due to construction. But it is a nice drive with so much beautiful scenery along the way. And as usual, Jaret travelled very well.
We arrived in Kelowna on Friday and after checking into our hotel, we had a nice supper. My parents were in Kelowna for the weekend on holidays and so they joined us at the hotel. We hung out around the pool while Terry and Jaret went for a swim. Then it was bedtime for Jaret. It is not easy trying to get a toddler to sleep at a decent time when you are travelling and staying in hotel rooms. We laid Jaret down and then sat outside the window to our hotel room so we could keep an eye on our sleeping boy. That way we could enjoy the evening visiting with my parents and still ensure Jaret was able to get to bed at a decent hour. It seemed to work just fine.

My dad and Terry golfed Gallagher's Canyon on Saturday morning. They just did nine holes but really enjoyed the course. Afterwards, we all spent time just splashing around in the pool at the B&B where my parents were staying. Jaret couldn't get enough of Terry throwing him up in the air and then landing in the water. Every time Terry would stop, Jaret would ask for more. We finally did get out of the pool to have lunch at one of my favourite wineries - Summerhill. Following that, my mom, Jaret, and I spent some time on the beach while my dad and Terry rented Sea-Doos. Terry had wanted to do this for years and he said it was everything he ever thought it would be - highlight of his weekend. Since then, Terry has been trying to convince me that Kelowna is the place we need to move next. And since we'd be so close to the lake, he is also trying to convince me, that he needs to own a Sea-Doo. It had been a long day, so we parted ways with my parents and headed back to the hotel to call it an early night.
Sunday we slept in and then headed to Gyro Beach. It was so hot (+34) and the sun was out. It was great to spend time playing in the sand and cooling off in the lake - Jaret's highlight. We then met my parents for lunch. We had lunch at a place called Ric's Patio. It is right across from City Park. The view was of the lush, green park and the lake. The service was great and the food was fantastic. In fact, it was so good that we even went back there for supper! The afternoon was spent touring wineries. Definately not a highlight for Jaret, but it was for me! Before supper, Terry and Jaret also enjoyed a spray park right down along the waterfront. It even had a little waterslide that Jaret absolutely loved! Being right down by a park for supper also enabled Terry and I to take turns walking around with Jaret, when sitting at the resturant got to be too much for him. At one point, we saw a statue of Ogopogo. Jaret sat on it and I was telling him what the statue was. When he tried to say Ogopogo, it came out as, "Gogogo." It was all too adorable.
Monday was unfortunately the end to our trip. Next year we will definately plan to spend more time out that way. We packed up the vehcile and met up with my parents to say good-bye. Then Terry, Jaret, and I walked along Waterfront Park. It is so beautiful! We then got on the road so we could stop at the Enchanted Forest, outside of Revelstoke, on the way home. It's a pretty cute little tourist attraction. Jaret wasn't sure about going in the little houses at first, but then he warmed up to it and didn't want to have to leave a house out. He needed to see everything.
It was a fantastic long weekend! Wonderful memories for years to come!
